The Pentagon discloses that Russia conducted recee missions over Syria

The Pentagon has disclosed that says Russia has been building a forward operating air base in Latakia in northwestern Syria, and has dispatched at least 500 troops along with fighter jets, tanks, artillery and a slew of military hardware to the facility.

Colonel Pat Ryder, the spokesman for the US military`s Central Command CENTCOM, which is overseeing efforts against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria, has made these revelations. It seems some ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) activity from Russian ISR aircraft have been seen.
The United States has indicated that it would welcome Russian involvement in the coalition fight against Islamic State jihadists. However, Moscow should steer clear of bolstering Assad`s regime by attacking moderate rebels on the ground. Any action against the common enemy of ISIS would be welcome but, if rebels are targeted, it would be a matter of concern.

The desperation all over the world to put an end in the mindless violence and atrocities committed by the ISIS is evident as Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott indicates that its combat aircraft could conduct their first missions to bomb Islamic State forces within a week.

The Prime Minister has said that extending RAAF combat operations to take in Syria and Iraq was intended to degrade and ultimately destroy the Daiesh death cult. Unless that was done, there could be no stability and no end to the persecution and suffering in the Middle East.
Defense force Chief Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin indicated that the operations into Syria could begin within the week. Defense Minister Kevin Andrews has added that the extension of RAAF missions was a practical and logical extension of current operations over Iraq. It was in national interest because, Daesh continues to provide a security threat, not only to Iraq and those regions of Syria in the Middle East, but even to Australia.

#SaudiArabia #saudiiraqborder Islamic State has robbed the sleep of a number of countries and the Saudi royal family plan to construct a 600-mile barrier stretching from Jordan to Kuwait to fortify the northern frontier of Saudi Arabia.
The fence and ditch would have radar surveillance towers at regular intervals apart from command centers and guard posts – the purpose of the wall would be to protect the Saudis' oil-rich territory from an invasion by the Islamic State insurgency.
It seems a recent suicide bombing and gun attack that had killed two Saudi border guards and their commanding officer had the style associated with the IS and, as revealed by an analyst, it was the first attack on the kingdom by the ISIS. Work on the wall has already started and Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud had inaugurated the first phase in September, soon after Islamic State's Sunni insurgency swept across Iraq.
The multi-layered barrier will have 78 monitoring towers, eight command centers, 10 mobile surveillance vehicles, 32 rapid-response centers, and three rapid intervention squads.
The barrier would be six-mile-deep and would consist of a ditch, two fences and a patrol road that would connect the watchtowers and guard rooms. There would be thermal imagers and battlefield radar systems that would be able to detect individuals at up to 12 miles away and vehicles at up to 24 miles away.

This is against the backdrop of Russia's Foreign Ministry’s indication that it hoped to host peace talks after Jan. 20 between the Syrian government and its fractured opposition.
It may be recalled that the nearly four-year-old conflict has claimed over 200,000 lives, displaced a third of Syria's population, and nurtured an extremist group, the Islamic State, which now rules over vast swaths of Syria and neighboring Iraq.
Syrian state-run TV has remarked that the government is prepared to take part in peace talks hosted by Russia next month, and the scope of the negotiations would be limited to "preliminary" talks which could form a basis for a conference in Syria itself.
It is no secret that Russia is a staunch ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Hadi Bahra, the head of the Syrian National Coalition, the main Western-backed opposition group, has revealed that it had not yet taken any decision on the talks.
The Western-backed Syrian opposition has been insisting that any negotiated settlement should include the formation of a transitional governing body with full executive powers but this demand has been rejected by Assad's government.
