Domino’s to have own brand of delivery vehicles with oven in the rear to keep the pizzas warm

The pizza business is a highly competitive one and, in order to meet the demands of its customers, Domino's Pizza Inc. is in talks with General Motors to have its own fleet of delivery vehicles that would be equipped with ovens in the rear to keep the pizzas warm. For a start, the company would be rolling out 100 test vehicles which would be emblazoned with the Domino's logo and red-and-blue colors, plus the oven in the rear to keep pizzas warm during transit.

Domino's is the second-largest U.S. pizza company and it is attempting to stay ahead of a fast-food industry where delivery is increasingly the norm. With brands like McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King and Starbucks breathing down their necks, Domino’s is trying to stay ahead of the competition - all the brands are experimenting with delivery services and are bringing more competition to pizza chains.
The design of the car is unique – there is only one seat for the driver and the rest of the small car's seats are removed. Its interior can hold food items, including as many as 80 pizzas. The warming oven is accessible from the side of the gasoline-fueled vehicle. Moreover, there is a "puddle light," which projects the logo of Domino's on the ground.
Incidentally, Domino’s ranks second to Pizza Hut in sales.

#NASA #humanoidrobot, #robonaut #ISS NASA has selected Robonaut 2, a humanoid robot, to work on board ISS alongside astronauts during not just spacewalks but also to attend to other routine duties. NASA has labeled Robonaut 2 (or R2) as the Invention of the Year for 2014.

R2 is positioned aboard the International Space Station (ISS), but a whole lot of technologies developed for R2 are being adapted for use on Earth. This is helping to hone its skills and give it the distinction of an outstanding invention.
The first Robonaut was R1 and it had been developed as a ground prototype to explore the potential for a humanoid robot to assist astronauts during spacewalks by preparing worksites as well as making available an extra pair of dexterous hands during maintenance tasks.
Later, R2 was co-developed with General Motors (GM) through a Space Act Agreement and has turned out to be faster as well as more dexterous than the earlier version R1.
The new technologies that have evolved from R2 include a robotic glove, a robotic exoskeleton and telemedicine applications. In fact, the R2 technology has given rise to a total of 39 issued patents, with several more in the pipeline and under review.
