IPL9 - Delhi Daredevils beat Kings XI Punjab by 8 wickets in Feroze Shah Kotla

It was a sensational win for Delhi Daredevils at the Feroze Shah Kotla grounds when when they beat Kings XI Punjab in their IPL9 encounter. It was possible thanks to the four-wicket haul by leg-spinner Amit Mishra along with an unbeaten 59 from Quinton de Kock. It ended in a Delhi Daredevils 8-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab.

Delhi won the toss and elected to field first. They managed to restrict Kings XI Punjab to a paltry 111 for 9 in 20 overs. It was all due to Amit Mishra, who became the second highest wicket-taker in IPL history after returning with figures of 3-0-11-4. He now has 116 IPL wickets under his belt.
In reply, Delhi displayede an impressive batting display. Opener de Kock (59 not out) and Sanju Samson (33) shared a match-winning 91-run partnership off 64 balls for the second wicket to open accounts for their team Delhi who had lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in their campaign opener.
The game was over when Pawan Negi blasted a six in the 14th over to overhaul the target of 112 with 39 balls to spare at the Feroze Shah Kotla stadium.

The disappointment was because of the failure of the Indian batting attack in front of disciplined bowling of the visitors who gave nothing away. At the end of the day, India could not overhaul the target of 270 set by the South Africans thanks to the knocks of Quinton de Kock (103) and Faf de Plessis (60).

India lost the chase in the last 15 overs with a flurry of wickets falling like nine pins as they ended at 252 for six. Most of the damage was done by Morne Morkel who returned figures of 4 for 39 and, literally, throttled the home side batsmen in the final stages.
In spite of half centuries from Rohit Sharma (65) and Virat Kohli (77) and with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni chipping in with 47 in 61 balls, India could not get a win. After 35 overs, India were 162 for 2 but the as game progressed it gradually slipped out of their hands.
Suresh Raina went for a big one off Imran Tahir and perished in the 44th over. And, then, Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were dismissed by Morkel in successive balls in the 46th over – and, it was all over.
