Veteran flyer Anne Rendall was given a bouquet of flowers after she flew more than 10,000 trips on the service between two of the Orkney Islands. Visiting the island communities is a part of her job at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Loganair's managing director has said that the route is a jewel in their network and is known across the world. It is actually an essential life-line for the people of Orkney because it connects the individual islands via a convenient air link. It is used by teachers, doctors, policemen and school pupils as it helps them to go about their daily routines with ease and simplicity.
The eight-seater aircraft travels from Westray to Papa Westray, off mainland Scotland's northeast coast and, started in 1967, the airline has operated the 1.7 mile regularly and holds the Guinness World Record for the shortest scheduled airline service.
