This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 23 September 2016.
The usually dry Musi river is now in spate due to unrelenting rain that Hyderabad has seen over the past few days. The flooding has resulted in inundation of areas on the river bank. The river originates in the Anantagiri Hills near Vikarabad and flows through vast stretches of Hyderabad. Irrigation officials have already opened eight flood gates of the Musi project in Nalgonda to allow the water to flow downstream.
Due to the heavy rains, roads have caved in at two different places bringing traffic to a crawl.
Met department has predicted that rains would continue for the next three days with similar intensity. This is attributed to a cyclonic formation over the west-central Bay of Bengal.
