This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz dated 3 September 2016.
Hermine made landfall just east of the city of St Marks in the Big Bend area. This is mostly rural and lightly populated corner where the Florida peninsula meets the Panhandle. It could drop back down to a tropical storm and push into Georgia, the Carolinas and up the East Coast and could result in drenching rain and deadly flooding.
Florida Governor Rick Scott has cautioned about the dangers of a strong storm surge, high winds, downed trees and power outages, and have urged people to move to inland shelters if necessary and make sure they had enough food, water and medicine. Governor Scott has also indicated that 6000 National Guardsmen in Florida were ready to mobilise after the storm passes.
The governors of Georgia and North Carolina declared states of emergency.
