This has been reported in telegraphindia.com dated 8 September 2016.
During 2015-2016, Arunachal had 3.4 lakh domestic tourists and 40 per cent of them were from Bengal. The expectation this time is 20 per cent more tourists during the festival season compared with last year. White water rafting has always been a hit with tourists because of many fast flowing rivers - the Siang, Subansiri, Kameng and the Lohit.
Skiing, paragliding, hang-gliding, scuba diving, bungee jumping, river rafting and trekking are now no longer for a handful because there has been a significant shift towards destinations with adventure sports. In India, safety and cost are still the areas of concern for adventure sports but, in spite of that, adventure sports is a major attraction.
Arunachal Pradesh also has heritage and culture to attract tourists - a few of these are the 400-year-old Tawang monastery, Malinithan temple and the Ita Fort.
