Too much selfie can land you in selfie elbow problem

This is for the selfie addicts - taking selfies is the latest craze among many and, it has been revealed that constantly takings too many pictures of yourself may cause you to develop a "selfie elbow". It is similar to problems like tennis elbow or golfer's elbow. Dedication to selfie-taking could land you in the doctor's office.
This has been reported in dnaindia.com dated 4 July 2016.
Jordan Metzl, a sports medicine physician at Hospital for Special Surgery in the US has explained the problem - it stems from overuse. Selfie elbow is about aches. Like carpal tunnel and tendinitis, it occurs from the repetitive nature of the task that causes the aches. It happens from typing, texting, or taking selfies - and the repetitive nature of the activity takes its toll in the form of aches.
It happened with Blackberry phones - people would get tendinitis in their thumb because they were on their Blackberries all the time.
Kim, a musculoskeletal rehab specialist at Rusk Rehabilitation at New York University Langone Medical Centre suggests using a selfie stick for the dedicated documenters - it works like an extension to the arm and takes the pressure off the elbow.
