This could become a reality by 1 August.
This has been reported in zeenews.india.com dated 3 July 2016.
The Ministry has plans of cover around 410 airports within the ambit of the Regional Connectivity Scheme. The central and state governments will be working in tandem to revive these airports. There are 31 such airports which can take over flying without much additional cost. For a start, the government plans to revive around 60 airports. The plan is to implement the scheme by August 1.
Broad facts are - the Regional Connectivity Scheme puts a cap of Rs 1,770 to 4,070 for flight distance between 200 km to 800 km. The fare cap for a 30-minute ride would be Rs 2,500. Obviously, the flight operator cannot charge more than Rs 2500 for a flight duration of 30 minutes. Similarly, a one hour trip should not to exceed Rs 5000. This will be applicable to existing big carriers, charter operators, as well as new operators.
