Some Americans look upon yoga as a new profession

More and more Americans are looking at yoga as yet another profession and want to become yoga instructors. It has been revealed that the number of newly minted yogis who are registered with Yoga Alliance, a trade group, has increased at an annual rate of 18 percent since 2008.
This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz dated 6 September 2015.
The bottom line is that Americans are signing up to become yoga instructors and earn the necessary credential to make a career out of their newfound expertise. Some of them might plan to look for work as an instructor, while others may be more interested to open a yoga studio of their own.
Of course, there is another side - many of the yoga students already have full-time occupations and are not keen to switch careers. They just want to learn more about yoga, their bodies and themselves.
