President Putin dives to the depths of the Black Sea to explore a shipwreck

#vladimirputin #blacksea #crimea #shipwreck Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, is a world leader who loves adventures – and, in his latest such a feat, he has dived 83m to the bottom of the Black Sea in a mini-submarine. His mission - to explore an ancient shipwreck off Crimea as reported in nzherald.co.nz dated 20 August 2015.
This feat of his was the latest in a long line of adventurous stunts where he has tranquillized wild tigers and flown with endangered cranes.
Obviously, he wants to cement his image as an adventurer and show that he has control of the annexed territory. His mission was part of a Russian Geographic Society expedition that is conducting research into Crimea's ancient trade route. The ancient shipwreck was of a 9th or 10th century Byzantine trading ship and it had been discovered near Balaklava earlier this year. It appeared to be well preserved and had dozens of artefacts including a large quantity of amphorae.
