NASA looks at putting man on Mars in the 2030s

#NASAbudget #marsrover #manonmars #LRO President Barack Obama has proposed to boost spending for NASA, the US space agency, by 2.9 per cent and NASA is delighted because, as the agency's administrator, Charles Bolden, has indicated, this will help NASA make to take strides in the journey toward Mars, where a human mission is planned for the 2030s. This is as reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 3 February 2015.
However, NASA may have to axe its long-lived Mars rover Opportunity mission in 2016 since there is no funds allocated for it in the White House's fiscal year budget request. Of course, the space agency has said they have not yet axed Opportunity or the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO).
The $18.5 billion budget request, is believed to include funding for developing a mission to Jupiter's moon Europa, apart from the agency's asteroid redirect mission (ARM).
The major areas of focus for NASA would be to continue to prepare for a manned mission to Mars, as also developing advanced solar electric propulsion systems that would be necessary for an asteroid redirect mission.
