The Jeju Island restaurant is a Korean eatery in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou and it has announced that 50 most handsome people to arrive at its gates each day will be spared paying their bills.
The system is that those who are hoping for a free lunch would have their looks evaluated by a panel of local plastic surgeons whose tummy-tucking talents the restaurant is attempting to promote.
Before they start eating, the guests are asked to go to a "beauty identification area" – once there, they are photographed and considered. The criterion are the quality of their faces, eyes, noses and mouths. Those who possess protruding foreheads have an advantage.
The owners are more concerned with physical appearances rather than English language skills.
However, they have put up a bright pink sign "Free meal for Goodlooking" outside the restaurant in order to spread their message but it has been removed by the authorities because, in their opinion, it harms the image of the city. They have removed the signboard.
Of course, Xue Hexin, the restaurant manager, has promised that the free meals for the beautiful would not be stopped. She has said that the promotion would continue.
