When the accident occurred, he was wearing a helmet and was, later, operated on for a brain hemorrhage that had sent into a coma. He has been literally fighting for his life and was finally released from hospital in June 2014 when he came out of coma and he went home to a special rehab room in September 2014.
His condition has, ever since, been a matter of concern and Philippe Streiff, a former F1 driver who was paralyzed in a 1989 crash has, reportedly stated that even though Schumacher was unable to speak, he was using his eyes to communicate. He has also commented that, Schumacher could walk with the help of crutches at some time in future.
But, FIA-linked doctor Gerard Saillant has refuted the statements of Strieff and has said that the two of them do not have any sort of contact. Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm has spoken in line with Professor Saillant.
