Attraction of foreign degrees – 28% increase in Indian students going to the US

It has been revealed by American Centre deputy director Greg Pardo that there has been 28% increase in the number of Indian students who are going to the United States of America to pursue higher studies - in the last one year there are about 1.13 lakh Indian students who have migrated to the US.
One of the possible reasons is that even though there were good institutions in India, the seats were limited and, hence, a section of students could look forward to the US for good opportunities.
Deputy director Greg Pardo was talking at an alumni interaction program organized by the Consulate General of the USA, Kolkata, and he has said that the students should research about a program of their choice based on what major they want to pursue. In case anyone wants to go in for a course in engineering, he must decide on the branch like mechanical, civil or any other.
Moreover, the aspirants should carry out a complete background check of the institutes before taking the final call. Greg Pardo also explained of how to differentiate between a genuine and a false university (non-accredited) – in his opinion, the students should carry out online research, find the age of the university, what accreditation they've mentioned; whether it's compatible with Indian scenario. Aspirants could also send e-mail to its alumni to know their experiences. Most of the authentic universities provide alumni details.
