New superfast weekly AC train from Santragachi to Pune via Tatanagar on the cards


South Eastern Railway (SER) plans to start a new superfast weekly AC train from Santragachi to Pune via Tatanagar which is expected to be a boon to students and business interests who have to go to Pune. It will be on an experimental basis till June 26 and might be extended depending on passenger response.

The timings of the Santragachi-Pune AC Special (02822) - it will leave Santragachi at 6.30pm and reach Tatanagar at 10pm every Saturday. It will stop for five minutes at Tatanagar and proceed to Pune where it will reach at 2.45am on Monday.
On the return journey, the train (02821) will leave at 10.30am every Monday from Pune, arrive at Tatanagar at 2.15pm on Tuesday and after a five-minute halt will proceed to Santragachi where it will reach at 6.15pm the same day.
The composition of the train will be three AC-2 tier, eight AC-3 tier coaches and two luggage vans and it will have stoppages at Kharagpur, Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Bilsapur, Raipur, Durg, Nagpur, Bhusawal, Kalyan and Panvel stations.
At present there are two other trains - the bi-weekly Howrah-Pune Duronto Express and the daily Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Express. However, due to heavy demand, confirmed tickets are usually not available.
