Five years back he had bought a camel - it is being cared for by his relatives in his Attibele farmhouse. However, some time this year, he ought a camel and her nine-month-old calf from Rajasthan for Rs. 68,000 and, in mid-September - a week after Bakrid - animal rights activists and the Tumakuru rural police took both camels after accusing him of planning to sacrifice them.
This has been reported in thehindu.com dated 12 December 2016.
The police ignored the man's denials, filed an FIR and, with the help the animal rights activists, transported the camels to a rescue centre in Mahadevapura - that compelled him to take the legal route. The district court in Tumakuru ruled in his favor and ordered return of the animals but, the police and rescue centre continued to refuse.
Therefore, the man once again approached the court and got the animals released. The animals had become malnourished and he is getting them treated at the veterinary hospital in Tumakuru.
