Chhat Puja in Howrah is another festival celebrated in Bengal

Chhat Puja is another festival celebrated in Bengal with much enthusiasm. There are nearly 50,000 devotees who would throng to 48 ghats on the banks of the Ganges. There will be 3,000 cops, 20 disaster management boats, and CCTVs and it will show that Chhat Puja in Howrah is no less a festival than Durga Puja or Kali Puja.
The Chhat Puja is on November 6 and 7.
This has been reported in telegraphindia.com dated 5 November 2016.
The Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC) and Howrah City Police team up every year to take adequate measures for safe celebrations. They have indicated that they will clean up all 48 ghats from Bally to the Indian Botanic Garden. In addition, the approach roads to the ghats will be washed and sprinkled with bleaching powder.
It is estimated that around 15,000 devotees throng each of the ghats in Shibpur, Ramkrishnapur and Bandhaghat for Chhat Puja every year.
