It was found at a site near Polmont and was in perfect condition.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 19 October 2016.
Once it was brought into the office, photos were taken and then they shared it out between 15 people, who took it home to cook. On cutting it up, the texture was like marshmallow. Some cooked it by dipping in egg batter and frying it up, others dipped it in Parmesan.
Giant puffballs usually occur in late summer and autumn and can be found in nutrient-rich grassy areas. They can grow to the size of a football. There have been reports of larger specimens weighing about 20kg. Incidentally, the largest British specimen ever measured was 1.62 metres (64ins) in circumference. The average weight is around 4kg.
As indicated by the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew website, the mushroom is an "excellent edible fungus" which has been "long sought after for its culinary value".
