Italian tourist trampled to death by an elephant in Kenya during photography


It was a tragedy for the 66-year-old Italian tourist who was trampled to death by an elephant - it seems he had provoked the animal when he came too close to get a better photo. The victim had finished his breakfast with his wife in their tent and left to photograph the elephant at a waterhole in Kenya's coastal region. He suffered serious injuries to his left leg and died after the elephant charged at him outside luxury Swara Camp in Kulalu Ranch.
He was on a luxury safari with his wife and a group of friends.

Swara Camp is located in Tsavo East National Park and attracts hundreds of tourists every year due to its wide range of wildlife. It is a luxury resort and boasts 12 tented suites with private bathrooms, all looking out onto the Galana River. It is the only camp in Tsavo East which has been accredited as an 'Eco-luxury Retreat of the World'.
As per the Malindi Police chief, the tourist was attacked by the elephant when he provoked it by moving closer to take photographs. The elephant charged towards him and attacked him seriously wounding him. He victim was pronounced dead at the camp before he could be airlifted to hospital.
