4th of July means Nathan’s Famous annual hot dog eating championship in Coney Island

Hot dogs are favorites of Americans and, every Fourth of July, they enjoy an estimated 150 million hot dogs. While most people can put down just one or two or, even three — there are those who try to set new records in hot dog eating through the famous Nathan’s Famous annual hot dog eating championship in Coney Island.
This has been reported in foxnews.com dated 1 July 2016.
This year will mark the 44th anniversary of the contest. It is an event that draws thousands of curious onlookers to the flagship restaurant at the corner of Stillwell and Surf avenues in Brooklyn, N.Y. The event starts at 10:00 a.m. and there are 20 competitors — 10 men and 10 women. They are pitted against each other for the title of America’s top dog.
This year the contest would be between Matt Stonie, the defending champ, and Joey Chestnut the eight-time champ and world record holder. He had set the record in 2013 when he polished off 69 dogs in 10 minutes. Last year Matt Stonie put away 62 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
Incidentally, when the first contest was held in 1972, one had to eat 14 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes.
