Manali to ban disposable glasses and plates from March 31

Manali town has taken a decision to completely ban disposable glasses and plates with effect from March 31 - the ban would initially be imposed in the main town area and would be extended later to areas falling under the entire jurisdiction of the Manali Municipal Council.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 4 March 2016.
These items, especially the glasses, remain strewn across the town because tourists prefer buying items like disposable glasses and plates and then throw them anywhere once the purpose is served. That is detrimental to the environment.
Plastic bags are banned in Himachal because they spoil the environment in the hill state. At an environment meet on Rohtang pass in 1994, the then chief minister Virhbhadra Singh had taken concrete step to ban plastic bags in the state and it was banned in Manali in 1995.
Manali is now going a step ahead and banning disposable glasses and plates.
Manali municipal council and the administration have already launched a drive to clean up garbage and remove unauthorized encroachments. In order to enforce the ban, all shopkeepers and households will have to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 charges if garbage is found in front of their property. In case of tourists or person who is caught throwing garbage, he would be made to clean it up.

  1. This is one of the most important step which has been taken by municipal corporation of the Shimla. i will also support this that plastic disposal glass should not be used in the country because it is not at all good for the health. it is very much harmful for the society therefore this should be encouraged from time to time.

  3. And choose the right attraction to stay. Consider the type of accommodation you want in Manali. Be sure you know where your resort is. If it's badly located or not where you thought it could make a painful difference to your vacation.
