Beauty soap fails to impart fairness - 67-year-old man gets compensation from manufacturer

A 67-year-old-man had taken to task a brand of beauty soap manufacturer for lying about the effectiveness of its product. As advertised, use of this soap was supposed to impart fairness to the skin - but, that did not happen to him. He went to the consumer court and has received compensation of Rs30,000.
This has been reported in ibnlive.com dated 18 January 2016.
This is an important that celebrities should be be careful about before endorsing beauty products. Malayalam superstar Mammootty has learnt about this the hard way because he had endorsed Kerala's most popular soap Indulekha. And - that was the soap the aggrieved consumer had bought and used for quite a while! But - he did not turn fair!!
He has created a sort of history by getting Rs 30,000 compensation in an out of court settlement. He had approached the Consumers Redressal Court and had sought compensation of Rs 50,000 from the Indulekha soap company for its misleading advertisement that had been endorsed by Mammootty.
The consumer had gone to court in September 2015 and the soap company, instead of fighting the case, decided to pay compensation and end the case.
