Air India goes really Indian - to introduce thali meals in business class

Thali meal is a truly Indian concept - the thali is the plate and thali meal means all dishes are served at one time in receptacles arranged around the periferi of the plate. Right from dal, vegetables to curd, papad and even pickles. Air India has plans to introduce this concept for its business class passengers. Only, while the conventional plate of the thalis are made of stainless steel, the ones in Air India would be of high-quality plastic. And, both veg and non-veg food would be served.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 17 January 2016.
Air India had popularised Indian culture by introducing the saree code for its air hostesses. And, the thali would add to its Indianisation efforts. The thali system would be on both of its domestic and international flights. Non veg passengers can rest assured that non veg foof would also be served - recently, meat lovers had been told that AI will serve only veg meals on flights of up to 90 minutes from this year.
As the chairman if Air India has said- as a part of upgradation of its services, the quality of meals is being improved. That is the reason for shifting from serving cold veg snacks on flights of up to 90 minutes to hot meals. Right now, there is tough competition with the arrival of Tata-Singapore Airlines (SIA) JV Vistara. That has forced other airlines to sit up and take notice.
