Skywalk planned by UP tourism department to connect Taj Mahal with Agra Fort

A skywalk is planned by the UP tourism department – this state-of-the-art facility is proposed to be erected at Shah Jahan garden, next to the Taj Mahal, and will connect the grand monument with Agra Fort on the other side.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 4 October 2015.
Design work has begun and it will come up at a cost of close to Rs 50 crore. Ahmedabad-based private company, International Centre for Sustainable Cities, has been awarded the contract to prepare a detailed report.
As revealed by the UP tourism officials, the skywalk will be a specially designed pedestrian pathway and it would have the World Bank as a partner.
The main purpose of this facility will be to save tourists from coming in contact with the fast moving traffic between Taj and Agra Fort – the distance is about 2 km. It will be helpful to tourists who want to walk down from Agra Fort to Taj Mahal or vice versa. It would be a round structure 25 feet above the ground and would be connected by escalators and stairs. It would be an environment-friendly shaded stone pathway and the shade will be provided through plantation of trees whose branches will cover the frame.
