Night life in Hyderabad - hookah parlors raided, horses seized by police

Hookah parlors ae a means of letting off steam – the ‘steam’ in this case is the smoke of tobacco sweetened by additives. However, Hyderabad police raided hookah parlors at Chandrayangutta and booked cases against 11 parlor owners for violating norms. The raids were carried out in localities in and around Barkas in houses and commercial establishments.
This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 19 October 2015.
One of the hookah centers allowed customers to use the swimming pool during late night hours – the swimmers were swimming for bets and betting is also rampant at snooker parlors.
Moreover, based on complaints about horses being used by some riders to frighten the women and girls, the police conducted searches at horse stables in Chandrayangutta and seized eight horses.
It seems riders would ride the horses at high speed deliberately next to women and create panic in the locality. It is fine when horses are used in 'baarat', but using them to harass women is not acceptable. The police have seized the horses and advised their owners not to give horses to the youth to ride on city roads.
