Later, the bowling of wily and crafty Bhuvaneshwar Kumar ensured that Delhi Daredevils lose by 6 runs and Sun Risers Hyderabad move up the points table to 4th position and remain in the hunt for the playoffs.
It was a disappointment for Delhi players Kedar Jadhav (63 not out) and Saurabh Tiwary (26 not out) who had tried to stave off the inevitable with a 91-run unbeaten stand.
Kedar Jadhav hit 63 not out in 34-balls – his score comprised 8 fours and 2 sixes. In company pf Sourav Tiwary the duo raised hopes of a successful run chase with a good-looking fifth wicket stand but just could not finish off.
With 22 needed in the last two overs, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a near-perfect penultimate over by conceding just 6 runs. Then came Ishant Sharma who kept a tight leash on his bowling and never allowed Delhi Daredevils to get the 16 runs off the final 6 deliveries even though his first ball had been hit for a boundary.
