Delhi unsafe for women even in the day – traffic police constable assaults a woman

Delhi is unsafe for women even during the day as has been shown by the latest incident that took place near Golf Links on Tuglak Road. A Delhi traffic police constable posted at the area had assaulted a woman with a brick in broad daylight and in full view of passing people.
This has been reported in zeenews.india.com dated 12 May 2015.
The constable has, subsequently, been arrested and dismissed from service for being involved in the scuffle with the woman.
It seems the woman was taking her kids to school and jumped a red light. The traffic constable wanted her to pay a fine of Rs 200 and she demanded a receipt for the amount which he refused. There was a verbal altercation and the constable picked up a brick and hurled it at her.
Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi has expressed regret over the incident and has indicated that the head constable has been suspended, an inquiry has been ordered and a criminal case would be registered.
