Obsession with selfies – women delete five before posting the sixth on social media

#selfies #socialmedia #goodmorningbritain #selfieesteem Selfie is the latest craze of the mobile phone generation – the youngsters, whether girls of boys, love to take selfies and show off these images to others through social media outlets. Selfies are images snapped on one’s own phone and usually depicts the face in different configuration. The objective is to show how loveable their faces are.
However, a study has revealed that, nowadays, while the trend is to take more and more photos of ourselves than ever before, the activity is not helping boost the level of self-confidence. This is because women typically take and delete five pictures before settling on a selfie they feel comfortable posting online. And, in the case of men, they are happy only on their fourth try.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 20 April 2015.
The study has brought firth interesting results. Two in three women (64 per cent) feel anxious just having their photo taken and when they look at the snaps on social media, nearly 41 per cent feel bad about themselves.
The survey commissioned by ITV's Good Morning Britain show, was conducted on 5,000 people by market researchers OnePoll. As far as the children were concerned – out of 58 per cent who took selfies, 79 per cent said they were happy with the way they looked while 67 per cent thought they needed to look good.
