Three day video gaming session kills a 32-year-old man in Taiwan

#videogamer #Kaohsiung #internetcafe #Taiwan The 32-year-old man Hsieh was a video gamer in city of Kaohsiung in Taiwan and has lost his life to video gaming addiction. He died after a three-day gaming binge inside an internet café – it is believed to be the second such “sudden death” involving a customer of an internet café in the current year.
It seems the 32-year old man, a regular customer, was found dead in the café – he had been playing combat computer games for three days and the staff of the café initially thought that he had suffered cardiac failure and was sleeping. He was used to long sessions and invariably played for consecutive days. When tired, he would sleep face-down on the table or doze off slumped in his chair. Hence, the staff did not bother much.
The incident is being treated as a case of “sudden death” from prolonged computer gaming. In the opinion of the police, the cold temperatures and exhaustion from intense game-playing could have contributed to the cardiac failure.
Police are increasing patrolling of internet café and are cautioning the gamers of the dangers of prolonged gaming and advising them to get up and move around after every two hours of computer gaming.
Earlier, on Jan.1, a 38-year-old man was found dead at an internet café in New Taipei City – he had been on a five-day video game marathon.
