Authorities feel she might have been killed by the very animals she cared for. The remains discovered consisted of bones and hair and an autopsy was underway to determine the cause of death. As per initial reports, she had been dead for up to two weeks.
The remains were located with the help of bloodhounds along a known bear path. It seems torn clothing had led the authorities to suspect that Kay Grayson was dragged into the woods by bears.
The woman lived alone inside her secluded mobile home along U.S. 64, east of Columbia – the property was named "Bearsong" and, for over two decades, she would feed bears peanuts or dog food.
