Bolt from the blue kills four on Brazil beach


#lightningstrike #PraiaGrande #SaoPaolo Lightning strike on the beaches of Brazil have killed at least four and another four people were injured when a violent storm suddenly hit Praia Grande. This is near to the port city of Santos, where the lightning strike occurred. As per local media, the dead were a pregnant woman and her husband, aunt and uncle.
The owner of a kiosk near the scene has described the incident as a huge explosion with the lightning come down in a flash. There were over 20 people in the area – they were either coming in from the sea or were on the beach where the bolt from the blue took place. There was panic and bedlam till firefighters arrived with stretchers and equipment.
Violent storms have been unleashing mayhem in southeast Brazil in recent days, with Sao Paulo bearing the brunt of the bad weather. It seems a storm downed scores of trees across the area that has a population of almost 20 million. Moreover, there was public transport when over 100 traffic lights malfunctioned.
