Ibiza bans drinking on the streets - even from water bottles

ibiza is a tourist hotspot and it has banned people from drinking on its streets - the ban extends to bottles of water. Those tourists in San Antonio, Ibiza, who break the law will have to pay a fine of 750 euro (£600) - the law was approved after authorities became exasperated with holidaymakers who would consume alcohol in public places.
This has been reported in dailymail.co.uk dated 30 April 2016.
The bylaw is applicable to all drinks and the intention is to put a stop to revelers who disguise alcohol in other bottles. The move has led to fears that tourists could get dehydrated while wandering around the town or on nights out because the temperatures soars above 30C in August.
Of course, those doing exercise and children are thought to be an exception to the rule. And, there are selected areas like terrace bars where people can enjoy their drinks. Mayor Pep Tur has indicated - the measure was introduced to stop young people 'causing a nuisance'.
People will not be able to take drinks out onto the streets in plastic glasses.
This decision will affect the hundreds of thousands of Britons who visit the island every year. Incidentally, Ibiza named as the fourth most popular holiday destination in a survey last year.
