This has been reported in timesofindia.indiatimes.com dated 27 March 2016.
The Ram Vilas Paswan-headed LJP has announced its list of 63 candidates for elections and two of them are transgenders (hijras) and, this will obviously add a new dimension to the assembly elections in the state. One of them would contest against Mamata Banerjee from Bhowanipore and Left Front-backed Congress nominee Deepa Dasmunsi. The other would contest from Jadavpur constituency, against minister Manish Gupta of the Trinamool and former MP Sujon Chakraborty of the Communist Party of India-Marxist.
Both ot them are unfazed by the presence of heavyweight rivals. They could lose the polls but the main reason behind the move was to voice the concerns of the transgender community. While the society, the country, claim to have progressed, but these people are looked down upon, ridiculed and not even considered humans.
