A 1939 Japanese Lilliput robot and Flash Gordon spaceship up for auction

A couple had built up a stock of toy robots over a period of 40 years and these would now go under the hammer. Among the treasured items are a 1939 Japanese Lilliput robot and an American Flash Gordon spaceship. These would be on Teesside. These two are from a collection of almost 1,000 tin plate and plastic robots, flying saucers and rockets built up by the North East couple who do not wish to be identified. They have built up the collection by traveling to fairs, shows and toy shops.

Toy specialist auctioneers Vectis admit that this Out Of This World collection sale is "one of the biggest of its kind" and auctioneer and valuer Andy Reed believes that items belonging to sci-fi, space and robots are much sought after. However, this is the biggest one they have handled in the last 20 years.
In their opinion, nearly 70% of these would go outside the UK, perhaps back to the USA and Japan.
While it is difficult to evaluate such items it could fetch between £30,000 and £40,000.
