Fraud baba in the CBI net after a decade

Crime does not pay and this has been proved yet again when CBI sleuths finally caught up with a fraudster who had been evading the Law for nearly a decade. He was staying in the holy place of Badrinath under the guise of a baba called Durgesh Maharaj.
This has been reported in zeenews.india.com dated 6 July 2015.
The fraud baba was, in his earlier avatar, a common postal agent and had duped people of Rs 2.63 crore by selling forged Kisan Vikas Patras. These are government sureties sold through the post offices.
The man was a resident of Madhubani and had settled in Kolkata with his wife and kids in search of greener postures somewhere in 1990s. He began working as agent for postal instruments like Kisan Vikas Patra etc. In Kolkata, he came in contact with a postal assistant and with one more accomplice he allegedly issued 263 forged Kisan Vikas Patra worth Rs 2.63 crore.
Since the instruments were forgeries, the money collected from gullible investors was pocketed by the trio. (Image courtesy wikimediacommons.org)
