Top Ramen follows Maggi and goes off the shelves

Another instant noodles hits the dirt – within a few weeks after Maggi was shown the door, Top Ramen has its head on the guillotine. As per directives of the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Indo Nissin, the company that manufactures Top Ramen has announced the withdrawal of its product from the market.

It seems tests have been conducted at two FSSAI accredited independent laboratories and while many Top Ramen samples have been tested by various state FDAs, slightly higher lead level has been found in the tastemaker in two of the samples. The approval for Top Ramen products is pending with the regulator and they have agreed to withdraw the product until they give the approval.
Apart from instant noodles, nearly 500 other products that have attracted attention of regulators following the ban by FSSAI on Maggi, have at least 32 products from Tata Starbucks, a cereal from Kellogg’s and poultry products from Venky’s. Hindustan Unilever has also recalled its ‘Knorr’ noodles pending FSSAI approval.
