The marathon man of California - 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days

#marathon #worldmarathon The marathon man of San Francisco is 31-year-old Tim Durbin – he is obsessed with marathons and is now just one race away from completing seven marathons in seven days on seven continents.
Till date, he has run six marathons, each 26.2 miles, through snow, rain and jetlag in Antarctica, Chile, Miami, Madrid, Morocco and Dubai. He is the only American who will be competing in the World Marathon Challenge that started last Saturday and ends in Sydney on Friday.
As he has revealed – in the last 48 hours he had slept less than 9 hours and has run three marathons. Most of his sleep was on board airplanes between cities with a few hours spent in hotels following the races. Of course, he did manage to have one full night of rest after running in Chile and before heading to Miami.
To him, the biggest challenge has been the quick turn-around times. In two instances, he did two marathons in 24 hours and lack of sleep is a major factor to keep going.
In his opinion, the Morocco marathon was the toughest because he had taken off from Marrakech less than 7 hours after he completed the race in Spain. Moreover, it took him longer to complete the Morocco marathon – normally, he takes an average of 5½ hours for each 26.2-mile marathon but, the one in Morocco took nearly six hours.
